Baltic States Block Fico’s Flight to Moscow
Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have refused Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico overflight permission to travel to Russia for World War II commemorations in May.
On Sunday, April 19th Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced
Fico will once again not receive permission to use Estonian airspace for a flight to Moscow to attend the May 9 parade.
Tsahkna called the event an effort “aimed at glorifying the aggressor.”
Previously, in a video posted to Facebook on Saturday, Fico confirmed that Latvia and Lithuania had also refused him permission to use their airspace.
Annually on May 9th, Russia celebrates Victory Day. This year marks the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
