Karl Urban’s Bonkers Action Hit Officially Demolishes One of the Worst Video Game Movies Ever
Nearly two weeks into its theatrical run, Mortal Kombat IIhas seemingly passed what could be its final global box office milestone. The movie will face direct competition from The Mandalorian and Grogu this week, and regardless of how indifferent the reviews are, people tend to show up for new Star Wars movies. The bad news is that Mortal Kombat II hasn't yet passed its estimated break-even point, but the good news is that it has at least grossed more than its predecessor, which had the misfortune of being released day-and-date on HBO Max in 2021. Like a few of that year's other Warner Bros. movies, Mortal Kombat II has delivered a greater box-office haul than its predecessor. But it's operating at an entirely different level from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Dune: Part Two, two sequels that outgrossed their day-and-date predecessors.
