For many, Alex de Minaur is one of the biggest potentials in the world of tennis, and it seems that he is destined for great success in the coming seasons. The 26-year-old, although already a successful tennis player, wants to improve further, and is aware that a challenging task awaits him.

In a conversation with Off-Court with Greg, Alex de Minaur talked about the progress, sharing the parts of the game that he feels he needs to improve and where he needs to work on.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz represent the main force in the world of tennis, and competing against them is extremely difficult. Most fans believe that they are far above the competition and that the future will be predestined for their success. It will be difficult for anyone to topple them.

However, de Minaur has a great confidence and believes it is important to make changes that can make it easier for him to catch up with the two.

“The ultimate goals in men’s tennis are to try and reach those two players now. They have been dominating the sport for the last couple of years.

I am in pre-season now, and I’m just getting ready. We have got certain areas that are quite technical that I want to work on and improve."- he said, as quoted by The Tennis Gazette.

Serve is certainly one of the key parts of the game that the Australian wants to work on, and the speed of the balls is another aspect that he considers important.

“The serve is always a work in progress. That is something I would put a lot of hours into.

I am also looking to put a bit of speed on my average rally ball. We are seeing with Carlos and Jannik that their average rally ball speed is extremely high, so we are working to get to that.

We probably have one session in the morning, which is drills with another player, and then you go back out and try and work on tweaks with your coach.”- he concluded.

Next season

Alex de Minaur has shown this year that he has the potential to compete against the best, but when you have such a serious challenge in the form of Sinner and Alcaraz, it's clear that you have to give much more than your best.

Such matches require not only physical but also mental preparation, which Alex is aware of. This is the reason why he will already define his goals and work hard to catch up with them.
