Deadly Knife Attacks Hit Taipei Metro Stations
At least two people were killed in attacks at metro stations in Taipei on Friday, December 19th, officials said, after a suspect stabbed commuters and set off smoke bombs.
A Taipei City Fire Department official confirmed that three people died in total, including the attacker. The circumstances of the attacks are still under investigation.
Taipei’s mayor said the suspect was believed to have died after jumping from a building following the incidents, which come at a tense time for the island after a summertime civil defense drill preparing for an invasion launched from China.
