Iga Swiatek was left delighted after hearing about Andy Roddick describing her Wimbledon victory as "legendary," and she made sure to react properly.

This week, Roddick reflected on what he thought were one of the most impressive moments of the season. When doing so, the former world No. 1 mentioned Swiatek ending her 13-month title drought by winning her first Wimbledon title.

After Swiatek concluded the clay season without winning a single title and failing to lift the French Open main glory for the first time since 2021, some thought the Pole was at her lowest point. But then, she stormed past The Championships to become a champion at the very same Grand Slam tournament that had been her biggest question mark.

“Iga, turning her season around at Wimbledon, that was a crazy story. It’s Iga, so we expect great things, and we’ve been preconditioned to her being one of the best with Aryna [Sabalenka] and Ash [Barty] of her generation. But not coming through on clay, looking bad at times on your favorite surface, and then somehow finding a way to be dominant on your worst surface. That’s the stuff that legends are made of. That’s crazy. We’ll see where it goes from here," Roddick said on his podcast.

The 24-year-old heard about what the 2003 US Open champion had to say about her Wimbledon triumph, and she commented on Instagram: "Awww."

Not only did the Pole win her first Wimbledon title this year, but she did it emphatically and in a historic way. By annihilating Amanda Anisimova 6-0 6-0, the world No. 2 became the first player since 1911 to win a final at The Championships with a double bagel, and also the first player since 1988 to win any Grand Slam singles final with such a scoreline.
