But it recently surrendered the number one spot on the domestic chart to Zootopia 2, which has been playing in theaters for an even longer time. Avatar 3 is still trailing its direct predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water, by around $1 billion, and is separated from the first Avatar by a massive $1.6 billion.
