Following the premiere of Creature Commandos in 2024, James Gunn’s new DCU is officially off and running. The HBO animated series debuted to widespread critical acclaim, but it was much more of a teaser for what the universe could accomplish. It wasn’t until the launch of Superman in 2025 that Gunn’s DCU took flight with its first pillar, Clark Kent actor David Corenswet. Corenswet is already confirmed to return in this summer’s next Kryptonian adventure, Supergirl, which flies into theaters everywhere on June 26. He will also return in a larger role in Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel co-starring Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult that’s now in production. The film has already been dated for release on July 9, 2027, and it will star Lars Eidinger as the villain, Brainiac.
