After the success of Sherlock Holmes and its sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, it seemed like Guy Ritchie had finally reached the top of Hollywood's hierarchy. He broke out with a couple of acclaimed British crime comedies that went on to become cult classics, and then proved that he could deliver big-budget franchise hits as well. Sure, he leveled up with the rather unexpected Aladdin live-action remake, but nobody complained when that film grossed more than $1 billion. However, despite Aladdin's success, it wasn't able to spawn the sequel that was promised. This happens to be a recurring theme in Ritchie's career, which has been rather uneven in the last few years.
