How can we define a “masterpiece” in film? When looking at trilogies where only two out of three entries are hailed as such, it raises questions about our criteria for greatness. Are we too lenient in labeling films as masterpieces simply because one or two installments shine more brightly?
Take the X-Men or The Godfather series. While they undeniably have standout films, do the weaker links tarnish the overall legacy of the trilogy? Or should we celebrate the highlights and accept that not every film can be a classic?
